Ever since I was a little girl, I have vacationed to various parts of Florida and it has always been one of my favorite places. I have always imagined what it would be like to take our kids there on vacation and this year we were finally able to share this special experience with them. A few weeks ago, we were lucky enough to take our first "airplane" vacation to beautiful Naples, Florida. It was so wonderful to get away from the cold and snow here in Chicago and enjoy some time soaking up the sun. We were fortunate to have great weather, temperatures in the mid-70's to low 80's, and no rain (except on our last day). We spent 5 full days staying with Steve's sister, Vicki, in her gorgeous, ocean-view condo which is just steps away from a private beach.

We were only supposed to stay for four days, but Cooper's episode set us back a day. Aside from feeling a bit under the weather with coughs and runny noses (which turned out to be ear infections), the kids had a wonderful time and seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed their first trip to Florida. They loved playing in the sand, eventually came to love the water (the Gulf was a bit chilly), enjoyed walking and exploring the beach, had fun swimming in the pool, and had a blast hanging out with Aunt Vicki. The kids even did amazingly well on the airplane, which was an unexpected suprise (portable DVD players are a lifesaver!). Below is a recap of our vacation...
WARNING: THIS POST CONTAINS A LOT OF PICTURES! It was extremely difficult to choose which ones to post since I took over 200 pictures during our trip!
Day 1- Checking things out at the beach...

Day 2- Lots of "chilly" fun at the beach and dinner at with Aunt Biz & Uncle Roger...

Day 3- More fun at the beach and family pictures at sunset...

Day 4- Fun in the pool, last day at the beach, and a bath in Aunt Vicki's whirlpool tub...

This was a truly memorable vacation and we can't wait to visit again! Thanks for everything, Aunt Vicki!
